Sri Lankan cricket captain Dasun Shanaka says that he was able to play a good inning for the team because he successfully followed the basic steps as a batsman. The Sri Lanka ODI captain said this after the first ODI match between Sri Lanka and India in Guwahati yesterday (10).

Although the Indian team recorded a 67-run win against India in the first one-day match held at the Bursapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Dasun Shanaka, who played an excellent batting match for Sri Lanka, scored an unbeaten 108 runs in 88 balls with 3 sixes and 12 fours. Shanaka and Kasun Rajitha built an unbroken 100-run partnership for the 9th wicket and recorded the second-best partnership for the 9th wicket in Sri Lanka. Dasun managed to cross the 1000-run mark in his ODI career yesterday.

Sri Lankan cricket captain Dasun Shanaka expressed his regret that the tasks expected from his bowlers were not fulfilled and mentioned that the bowlers did not perform according to the plan that was originally built.

"The Indian batsmen got off to a good start. At the same time, they gave a good match. Our bowlers were not able to bowl well. But the Indian bowlers swung the ball well. Bowled well with that swing. Our bowlers had plans. But they could not succeed. I successfully followed the basic steps as a batsman. That's why I was able to play a good inning," said Dasun Shanaka.

“We didn't use changes in the first 10 overs. I think I should bat at the top in T20s, but there is a place where the team needs me," he said.

In the last over of this match, when Dasun Shanaka had scored 98 runs, the Indian bowler Mohammed Shami tried to knock him out with the 'Mansard' method. Indian captain Rohit Sharma gave up the wicket and gave Dasun the chance to stay at the wicket, preserving the dignity of the game. At the same time, Dasun Shanaka, who played innings as captain, completed his second ODI century.
